Design and Technology

Design Technology is a practical learning process and we aim to give pupils at Trenode full opportunity to develop both their designing and making skills, as well as their knowledge and understanding of technology.

Children are taught to select and work with their own materials which include food, textiles, wood and plastics. They are encouraged to set out their ideas in a logical and ordered way, and to evaluate their products, identifying problem areas and suggesting modifications to overcome difficulties they have encountered.

TheY will be given opportunities to investigate how simple products work and their knowledge anD understanding will be broadened, where possible, by drawing on other subjects across the curriculum, especially science and art, to which design technology is closely linked.
