Friendship is an important value in our society, with children spending so much time at school with their friends it is important we promote positive relationships. As a school we encourage the children to be friends, not only with the children in their class but all of the children from the youngest to the oldest, leaving no-one out. We strive to have a unity similar to a family unit which protects and nurtures all its members. Sharing our joys and sorrows with people we trust and supporting one another is a thing of immense value. True friendship enables people to grow and ensures that the unique individuality of each person is recognised. All this echoes the value placed by God on the preciousness of each person.
David and Jonathan had a very strong supportive friendship in the bible. Abraham is described as a friend of God James 2v23 and Jesus explicitly calls his disciples not servants but friends; John 15v14-15.
